A Time for Quietude and Rest
Tara Rivero Zea
All of a sudden it’s December once more. But does it feel like the most wonderful time of the year or are you feeling more like the grinch?
Xmas can be a difficult time for many of us, with extra work, extra spending, extra responsibilities and difficult family dynamics. And it tends to be us women who take most of the strain. My littlest one age 7 is unsure about the existence of Santa. She was suspicious last year but this year even more so, and this has been triggered by the unreliable nature of the tooth fairy, who can be quite forgetful in our house! I feel a sadness that she will no longer soon believe, but then I ponder is that for me, or for her? I think probably it is me?! 😭 When the Xmas truth was finally revealed to her older siblings, at varying ages, I tried to point out: “but isn’t that amazing that actually your mum is Father Christmas? Imagine!!!! I make all this happen every year! It’s actually me! I AM Xmas!” But somehow it didn’t wash, they were quite nonplussed 🤣
But beneath the joke there is a truth, it’s a lot being father Xmas as well as all my other hats. I am a single mum and additionally the person who hosts Xmas for my extended family. And although I love hosting, love cooking, and love the day, in the run up it can sometimes feel like quite a pressure. After 10 years of rigourous hosting, I have finally realised that no one cares about the meal being perfect. I think they're mainly just happy that it’s not in their house 🤣… and most importantly of all, I've actually planned some downtime for me in my countdown to Xmas this year. I have 2 massages, 2 sound healings, and 2 saunas booked in. And I always give myself a “staff day off” in the run up, where I don’t leave the house, don’t cook, and lie in bed watching Netflix, eating chocolate and having a nap. I highly recommend it!
If you want to take a leaf out of my book, then why not book in some treatments with our lovely practitioners, so you are ready and rested and hopefully Merry Xmas gets a rest and some help too. And however you choose to celebrate, I hope Yule brings you all some much needed peace and harmony!!

The trees are shedding leaves, and we are releasing too - we just can’t see it in ourselves as clearly as we can from our natural surroundings. But of course, we are nature too.
During these darker months, just as trees need to conserve energy, so do we. Just as trees let go of what is no longer needed in order to support themselves, we need to do the same. In our busy culture we forget that now is the time to rest, let go, and nurture our inner gems in quietude. Let nature be your guide and allow yourself to be still and sit with what is going on in the depths.
Reiki and Shamanic Healing allow you to experience what’s really happening inside you - body and mind, and help you to let go of whatever it is you need to. These practices offer deep connection to yourself and an integration of whatever changes are taking place within, creating a beautiful sense of balance and peace and wholeness.
Now is a truly magical and powerful time for healing. If this sounds like something you’d like to explore, then book in a Shamanic Healing or Reiki session with Louise!
