Psychological and Psychotherapeutic Consultations for Menstruality and Menopause

A brief psychological consultation supporting women to understand and navigate menstrual, peri-menopausal and menopausal changes as meaningful biopsychosocial experiences. This offering can help in enhancing emotional regulation, self-trust and personal agency.

What is offered:

At Healing Space, Letticia offers short-term focused psychological and psychotherapeutic consultations centred around the menstrual cycle and menopause, which are outlined below. She is available to meet in-person or online. If you work together, getting to know each other and building a strong relationship is important to Letticia as a start, and a way for you to feel safe, so you can explore what you want to understand and change. Before the first appointment, you would find time to speak on the phone or via Zoom, so Letticia can get to know a bit about you and your needs. You would take a collaborative, curious and compassionate approach to the exploration of your experience.

Menstruality Consultation:

A psychological menstruality consultation offers women a facilitated therapeutic space to explore holistic aspects of their menstrual cycle experience, including emotional, physical and relational dimensions. This approach recognises cyclical hormonal variation as a meaningful context for emotional regulation, cognition, self-concept, and relational functioning. Rather than treating cyclical changes as noise or pathology, we would understand them as embodied states that interact with stress, trauma history and gendered social demands. The model is biopsychosocial, trauma-informed, and oriented toward individual meaning-making and personal development of agency.

Clients are supported to develop Menstrual Cycle Awareness, the practice of observing and understanding physical, emotional, and hormonal changes throughout the cycle. This helps individuals anticipate needs, manage symptoms, make informed choices about work, exercise, and self-care, and improve reproductive health literacy. It also fosters bodily autonomy and reduces menstrual stigma. Menstrual Cycle Awareness can be a helpful practice for a woman of menstruating age, or a woman who is going through peri-menopausal change to their cycle.

A psychological menstruality consultation is particularly relevant for clients who experience:

  • Cyclical mood changes, anxiety, or irritability

  • Premenstrual distress

  • Cyclical changes in confidence, cognition, or motivation

  • Shame, self-blame, or medical dismissal related to menstruation

  • Difficulty trusting themselves due to internal hormonal variability

Peri-menopause and Menopause Consultations:

A psychological menopause consultation offers women a facilitated therapeutic space to explore holistic aspects of their peri-menopause and menopause, including emotional, physical and relational dimensions. The approach is integrative, validating and context-aware, recognising that change is not “just hormonal,” but a biopsychosocial life transition that intersects with identity, relationships, work, health systems, and power.

The consultation holistically explores aspects of peri-menopause and menopause including:

  • Mood shifts (irritability, low mood, rage, grief, numbness)

  • Anxiety (new-onset, health anxiety, existential anxiety)

  • Cognitive changes (“brain fog,” confidence erosion)

  • Sleep disruption and its psychological effects

  • Trauma re-activation (peri-menopause can amplify old patterns)

  • Libido and intimacy-related distress

  • Shame or self-blame (“I should be coping better”)

The consultation is particularly relevant for women who are:

  • Experiencing hormonal variability and unpredictability linked to peri-menopausal changes

  • Experiencing social invisibility and medical minimisation of menopause

  • Feeling overwhelmed or uncertain how to navigate menopausal symptoms as well as the broader existential life transition menopause presents, both physically and emotionally

Number of sessions:

Letticia offers the consultations as three different programmes (single, three or six sessions), with space to go into more depth with more frequent sessions.

  1. Single session, 90 minutes, £150

  2. Three sessions, 60 minutes each, £90 per session

  3. Six session, 60 minutes each, £90 per session

Scope of the consultations:

“The work I offer sits within a psychological scope of practice. It does not replace medical, gynecological, or psychiatric assessment. The consultation is appropriate as a one-off intervention, or as an entry point to longer-term psychotherapy.”
